“The world that unfolds before you when you genuinely look at people and organizations with interest is endless!”
Hessiëlle Kerkhoff started her Action Learning MBA in 2008. As a director in the rapidly growing ‘childcare’ sector at the time, she wanted to learn the language spoken in the boardroom. After completing her MBA in 2011, she transitioned to a managerial position in the healthcare sector. She now runs her own company, guiding businesses in comprehensive organisational and leadership development. In 2019, she launched her first book, ‘Signature in Healthcare,’ and at the end of 2022, the book titled ‘My Boss Also Wears Underwear.’
Hessiëlle is 51 years old and lives in Zwolle with her three sons. She carefully chose the year to start her studies; her three children were then in primary school, allowing her to organise her work and study time effectively. The MBA taught her that planning and organising are only a fragment of a well-functioning business. For her 40th birthday, she wanted to stand in a gown on the steps of the Kurhaus in Scheveningen (where Graduation Day took place at the time). This ambitious attitude helped her achieve goals, and at the same time, during the study, she realised how important the time is in which you can immerse yourself in ‘not knowing.’
“I remember the very last day when our group gathered well. Almost crying, I drove home because I knew I would miss those moments. The days when asking questions was more important than getting answers. The moments when the wonder of new knowledge and insights brought a broad grin. The investigative attitude we shared, as well as the stories from various sectors that formed lessons in themselves.”
Hessiëlle continued to nurture her curiosity. From merely wanting to know, she now professionally dares to explore further. She mentions that confronting her own limiting beliefs and daring to let them go has been one of the greatest lessons.”
