Master and Doctorate candidates from George Washington University (USA) met up with Business School Netherlands MBA students, Graduates and faculty for a second two-day panel discussion on Leadership in South Africa.
"Last year Dr Michael Marquardt asked me if I could organise two panels in Cape Town which would meet with a group of master's and doctoral candidates from George Washington University which I did and the panel discussions were very successful. He asked if could do the same again this year and I arranged for two panels to discuss "leadership in South Africa". Mike could not make the trip this time, but the small group of students were led by Dr Deborah Waddill. I arranged the panels for Thursday 20th October which I attended and the second group on Friday 21st October and I invited some BSN tutors, students and graduates and others from outside BSN if they were willing to participate." - Dr. Billy Coop
The first panel, on Thursday, comprised of Dr Lee Kingma (one of BSN's International MBA HRM tutors), Dr Herman van Niekerk (one of BSN's International MBA IM tutor) and Dr Billy Coop (Marketing & Strategy director and one of BSN's International MBA Marketing Management tutor). On Friday the second panel got together, comprised of Lorenz Heere (International MBA student), Craig Nel (Business School Netherlands MBA graduate) and Kobus Opperman ( a specialist consultant in conflict resolution). The theme during both two hours panel discussion was focussed on Leadership Challenges in South Africa, and provided the groups an interesting insight on leadership. In general: very positive and interesting 2 days, with the focus on the challenges of leadership relating to leadership in South Africa. Dr Waddill commented on the days spent with the groups: "The students will never forget the panel members and the messages they conveyed. I relayed our appreciation for the panel members to Dr. Mike Marquardt as well". Dr. Michael Marquardt is currently a professor of Human & Organizational Learning at The George Washington University, Graduate School of Education and Human Development and director of the Overseas Human Resource Development Programmes in Singapore and Hong Kong.
