The first quarter of 2010 has been one of creating a strong thrust and stronger Business School Netherlands messages than ever by the BSN Nigeria team. The passionate guidance and mission directed leadership of Mr. Lere Baale (CEO of BSN Nigeria) has resulted in three important events on 20 and 22 March 2010.

Content 2:

Business School Netherlands - Nigeria invited Mrs. Juanita Bouwer (Head; English Programmes and BSN Nigeria director), Mrs. Yvette Baker (Finance and Registry Administrator) and Prof. Strydom (Director of Business School Netherlands and BSN Nigeria) to Nigeria for these days.

This event was the start of the twenty sixth (18 sets in OTA and 8 sets in Abuja) Executive MBA set of BSN Nigeria (Ota 18) at the study centre near Lagos in Ota, Ogun State. This group of 23 students were inducted by Mr. Baale himself with assistance of the two Lagos based set advisors, Dr. Ayotunde Adebyo and Mr. Ahmed Badatunde Popoola. The hot prospect list from which this set was formed was a good 37 at the time of the writing this report. The writer, Prof. Pierre Strydom, addressed the set on Saturday morning with an address titled: “a Master is more than a Manager”.

On Saturday afternoon the board of directors of BSN Nigeria met as per the schedule. It was a good opportunity to discuss the important matters and issues on the agenda and listen to the presentation of the CEO on his and his team’s plans and forecasts for 2010 and beyond. With Ms. Juanita Bouwer also present the board was complete in this meeting. (The board of BSN Nigeria consists of Mr. Ayodele Aderinwale – chairman, Dr. Olumide Ajayi, Mr. Lere Baale, Ms. Juanita Bouwer and Prof. Pierre Strydom.) Advice was given, ideas and visions were shared and actions documented to make BSN Nigeria more visible and grow the company even stronger.

Is there a mission, a calling for me beyond my MBA?

The abbreviated review of key notes addressed during the launch of the Alumni Association of Business School Netherlands - Nigeria on 21 March 2010.

Content 2:

A question being raised in action learning circles and within Business School Netherlands, and perhaps burning in the hearts of most good MBA graduates is: “Is there a mission, a calling for me beyond my MBA – what should I now do with what I was so busy with for such a long time?”

In the reflection on the MBA road completed Prof Strydom continued to confimr the knowledge the graduates have gained during their MBA study with Business School Netherlands, not only theorectical knowledge, but also practical knowledge. True Action Learning as a problem/ issue/ challenge/project which were worked on within groups by mainly asking questions before trying to find the best answers.
Comparing the road to a pendulum Prof Strydom made the Action Learning aspect of the MBA programme even more clear: on the one side the Action and the other the Learning aspects.

Continuing on the pendulum comparison Prof Strydom spoke to the members of the Alumni Association of the pendulum in their minds, as it is his firm belief that they have been prepared for a task to coach within their organizations the action learning way.
Prof Strydom closed the speech with saying that:" With the same regularity ensure that portfolios of evidence is built of the learning, capture the new knowledge as knowledge capital, build teams, build leaders, build a learning attitude ---- build a learning organization!!"
