International DBA programme 2012 starts in Buren.

The International DBA programme is a joint effort by Sheffield Business School at Sheffield Hallam University and Business School Netherlands, to establish a doctorate programme with the unique combination of recourses and experience.
Business School Netherlands extensive experience with Action Learning in its MBA programmes, and Dutch languaged DBA programme is combined with Sheffield Business School's strong academic orientation and research expertise.

Earlier this week, the first group of International DBA students gathered from all over the world in Buren, to attend the first block of workshops of phase 1 of the doctorate programme.
The group were guided by Dr. Hanna Bakker (Action Learning facilitator),PhDr. Sláva Kubátová (Academic Programme Manager), and Michal Henych.

On the first day the group was introduced to Action Learning and the coherency between cultures.
On day two, John McAuley (PhD MA (Econ) Chartered FCIPD) Emeritus Professor of Organisation Development and Management at Sheffield Business School, spoke to the group about systems and structures in the organisation, the evenings were spent on discussing how the day's sessions had contributed on the students research ideas.

The following three days were filled by workshops by some of The Netherlands finest, Prof.René ten Bos spoke about People in Organisations ( organisational cultures and HR systems), Prof Hans Heerkens spoke on Exploration on Problems and Priorities, and Prof. Roland Bushoff spoke about Canvas - Theory and application to partcipants companies on Friday.

By the end of this five day block of workshops, the International DBA programme students were asked, as a research excercise, to develop their own organisational 'x-ray' using the tools they were handed this week.
The next block workshop, Foundations and Design of Management Research, will take place in five months from now, in Sheffield (UK).

A Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) is a management practioner's degree. The study is focused on developing a scientific attitude, not just completing a research project.
