Prof. dr. Luchien Karsten 

Tutor DBA

Luchien Karsten studied Economics and Philosophy at the University of  Groningen (The Netherlands) and history in Paris (Ecole des Hautes Etudes). He earned his PhD from the same university about the history of the eight hour day.

At present he is professor in Philosophy of Management Thinking at Business School Nederlands, for the DBA programme. Also, he is professor History of Management and Head of the department of International Business and Management at the University of Groningen. He coordinated a cooperative project (1988-2004) with the faculty of economics and business of the University of Burkina Faso, has been involved with EU projects in Russia together with a German partner and coordinates contacts with Gadja Mada and UI in Indonesia. He has been director of a consortium for International Business with the university of Stirling (Scotland ) and the Ecole superieure de commerce  CERAM in Nice. He has been visiting professor in  Nottingham Trent and Rennes 1 (France ). Now he is visiting professor in Newcastle (Great Britain ). He is responsible for the summer academy of the Energy Delta Institute located in Groningen. His research interests focus on time and management, the transfer of management concepts and the history of changes in multinationals. He is member of the editorial board of Personnel Review and the South East Asian Journal of Management.
